The Great Outdoors

Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area is a multi-use preservation centered around Arabia Mountain, a granite monadnock (an isolated rock hill). Its unusual features allow it to host unique plant and animal species, some of which are endangered, like the bright-red diamorpha plant that gravitates towards small pools of water. The park is open to the public for hiking and biking on the paved trails that meander through different park areas. Park your Oxford RV trailer rental nearby and combine the best of both worlds, outdoor adventure and the comforts of home.

Hard Labor Creek State Park is a cultivated outdoor recreation area with access to a lakeside beach, miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, and camping. The park is open from early morning to late evening all year round. Guests can enjoy birding and fishing, hiking, horseback riding and off-road biking, and much more. Swimming and geocaching are allowed at the beach, and there is a mini-golf course. Boats and kayaks can be rented.

Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1939 as a type of experiment to see if old worn out land could be reinvigorated and restored. Today the park is a system of creeks and forests that support a variety of plant, bird, and animal species, such as the bobcat and the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Visitors can fish and hunt in select seasons; hiking is allowed except during hunting season. The park's trail system has boardwalks and observation decks, and a visitor center that is open weekdays during business hours.
