LaGrange is a town in west Georgia near the Alabama-Georgia state line. Originally home to the Creek Indians, the town was named after the estate of French-American hero General Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette traveled often, and during one of his travels, he mentioned to Governor Troup that the area’s landscape reminded him of his own home in France. Because of this, the inhabitants of the town decide that “LaGrange” was the most fitting name for their up and coming town. If you visit LaGrange today, you can expect a warm and friendly atmosphere with cultural experiences for people of all ages and interests. Ballets, museum exhibitions, magnificent gardens, and glorious green spaces — you can see them all when you book a camper rental in LaGrange.

Fun in the Sun in LaGrange

Travel mere minutes from LaGrange, and you could find yourself in one of Georgia’s largest lakes. West Point Lake in West Point, Georgia, stretches 35 miles on the Alabama-Georgia border. With over 525 miles of shoreline, West Point Lake is an angler’s paradise. Besides boating and fishing, guests can engage in other recreational activities such as camping, hunting, picnicking, and swimming.

Drive half an hour to Pine Mountain and check out Georgia’s iconic Callaway Resort and Gardens. Sprawling across 2,500 scenic acres, here you can take some time to relax in the great outdoors. Cycle down miles of peaceful trails, take a dip in Lake Robin, or tee up on a championship golf course. And of course, you can’t miss the gardens. The 40-acre Azalea Bowl explodes into color during the spring while the butterfly garden provides a treat year-round. Book a room at the resort or stay at a nearby campground with your RV rental from LaGrange, Georgia.

Also in Pine Mountain is F.D. Roosevelt State Park. Spreading across 9,049 acres, it is Georgia's largest state park. In 1924, President FDR came to this part of Georgia to swim in the warm springs and find relief from polio. During his visits, he constructed and stayed in what is known as the Little White House. Today, visitors to the state park can explore over 40 miles of trails on rolling mountains, go fishing in one of the two lakes, or enjoy a picnic atop Dowdell’s Knob, the place where FDR often visited and picnicked to ponder world affairs. And when you reserve a motorhome rental in LaGrange, you can stay at the park’s campground, which has several sites with partial hookups (30/50 amp electric).

Places to Stay with your RV Rental

Slip right into the water when you bring your RV rental from LaGrange to Highland Marina Resort. Situated on West Point Lake, here you can wake up in the morning, walk a few steps to the marina, and be on the lake before sunrise. Each campsite at Highland Marina is shaded by southern pines and features full hookups including 30 and 50 amp electrical service. There’s an on-site bathhouse too. While at the campgrounds, guests have access to hiking trails, beach volleyball, and horseshoes. You can also rent pontoon and fishing boats from the resort.

Another option when you search for an RV in Troup County is Three Creeks Campground. In business for almost 60 years, the campground has several campsites with full hookups featuring 30/50 amp electrical service. Guests to the campground can use the on-site bathhouses and laundry facilities. Explore all the campground has to offer on foot, or rent a golf cart.
