The bright cheery colors and ornate buildings of downtown Conyers are bound to attract visitors from near and far. This peaceful community in the heart of Georgia has repeatedly reinvented itself many times throughout its history; from Native American hunting grounds to isolated rail depot, to wild west outlaw town, Conyers proceeded to grow and grow. Now you could hardly tell that Conyers once harbored dangerous outlaws that came from far and wide to patronize the local brothels and saloons that the town developed a reputation for.

Geographically, Conyers is located along I-20 in between Augusta and nearby Atlanta. Downtown Atlanta in less than 20 minutes away, which makes Conyers an ideal place to rent an RV. Coupled with Georgia’s affinity for the great outdoors and wealth of natural beauty, Conyers proves to be a hospitable vacation destination with an interesting story to tell.

Discover Conyers

The Great Outdoors

The city of Conyers has one of the very best parks departments you could ever hope for. If you prefer to stay put and scarcely leave town with your Conyers camper rental, there are more than enough recreational fields, facilities, and parks for your leisure. Costley Mill Park is one of the more recent additions to the city, with a beautiful waterfall-fed pond and white sand beaches for summertime activities. Pavilions, gazebos, and playgrounds enhance the area, making for a well-rounded experience. Pine Log Park is a wonderful place to bring your Conyers RV rental for a nice barbecue cookout. Four lighted tennis courts and a variety of fitness trails help vacationers stay in shape while on the road.

Big Haynes Creek Recreation Area is close to town and excellent for spending the day among nature. Situated on the banks of Big Haynes Creek, the recreation area is known for its spectacular fishing, boating, and swimming. Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area and Panola Mountain State Park are just minutes from Conyers, and quite easy to reach with the Conyers rental motorhome. Both locations have large geological features called monadnocks, that are essentially towering granite monoliths that appear independently from other mountains. These flat top features have unique ecosystems located on top and within, and many Atlanta residents head out to these parks for weekend recreation like archery, mountain biking, hiking, or running.

Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge is about an hour away from the city of Conyers; numerous protected animals and stunning scenery greet visitors when they arrive at the flourishing refuge that was once depleted farmland during the Great Depression. Oconee National Forest is one of the smaller national forests in the country, but it is jam-packed with excitement and recreational areas. Additionally, you can take your Conyers luxury motorhome rental for a spin up to Chattahoochee National Forest for some intense hiking in the Appalachian Mountains. Both of these pristine forests are known for their many majestic waterfalls spread throughout the vast territories.

Exploring the City

Much of Conyers revolves around the central area lovingly referred to as Old Town Conyers. This historical little enclave in the heart of the city holds small traces of its turbulent past, reflected in the wonderful, bright-colored buildings on the main street. Conyers was rebuilt after sustaining major fire damage several times throughout its history, but has recovered every time while protecting its cherished landmarks like the Rockdale County Courthouse.

The Lewis Vaughn Botanical Gardens, in the middle of Old Town Conyers, is a lovely outdoor space dedicated to preserving species native to the Piedmont Region. There are lots of fun events held at the gardens, and a sparkling koi pond with lots of fish.

Museum Replicas in Conyers is the world's largest manufacturer of replica swords and armor from all different time periods. Model weapons and armor can be bought by the public although their biggest customers are the film studios that require accurate replicas of historical costumes.

Conyer’s biggest claim to fame is the Georgia International Horse Park which was home to many of the events during the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. There is more to this park than the equestrian parks and horse competitions; mountain biking events were featured there during the Olympics because of the ideal terrain. Better yet, the park has its own live music venue that hosts big-name musicians every year.

RV Parks

People flock to Georgia year-round for its friendly weather and scenery. A fierce love for the outdoors is obvious when visitors see the countless campgrounds and RV parks available in and around Conyers. When you book an RV in Conyers, you could stay at Riverside Estates, a park with spacious sites to park your vehicle. The Yellow River beside the park has some decent fishing spots, and the park features an on-site pool and recreation space.

Stone Mountain Park and Stone Mountain Heights RV Park are two campgrounds near Stone Mountain Park, a lively recreation area near the town of Stone Mountain. Lake Oconee/Greensboro KOA, by Oconee National Forest, is another place to park your Conyers motorhome rental. Here, you’ll be right on the doorstep of the wilderness, while still having access to the comforts of home.
