The city of Barnesville is the county seat of Lamar County, in the state of Georgia. The city was founded in 1826 and named after a tavern proprietor, Gideon Barnes. During the Civil War, Barnesville acted as a makeshift hospital with local citizens taking in wounded soldiers and treating them. The survival rates of these soldiers were better than average; Major General William B. Bate, who would later become Governor of Tennessee and a U.S. Senator, was one of these soldiers and later is quoted as having credited Barnesville for his survival and future success. Barnesville is well known for its music and festivals. In April, it hosts the BBQ & Blues Festival, featuring a barbecue cooking contest, food vendors, arts and craft vendors, and live music. It also has the Summer in the Sticks Country Music Concert held annually in July and the Buggy Days Festival, celebrating its status as the Buggy Capital of the South in the late 19th century.

RV rentals in Lamar County are numerous and offer a great chance to experience an RV vacation. There are some other towns and cities that are worth exploring too. Peachtree City has a system of golf cart paths that crisscross the city but must share them with cyclists and joggers; the golf carts are a popular mode of transportation for residents. Bolingbroke was named after the 1st Viscount Bolingbroke, Henry St John; it was incorporated in 1912, but the incorporation was dissolved in 1995. Butler is a part of the Taylor County School District, which holds the national record for longest girl's high school basketball winning streak; the team went undefeated for five years, from 1967 to 1972, winning 132 consecutive games and five state championships. Newnan was a hospital city during the Civil War for both armies and as such did not suffer the damage experienced by other cities; much of its present-day architecture is from that time period. Americus is the international headquarters of many well-known organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Fuller Center for Housing, and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving. Your Barnesville GA RV rental is how you will experience this interesting and unique environment.
