Miami Beach, Florida, part of Miami Dade County, should not be confused with the city of Miami; it is, rather, a small part of Miami city. It’s located on a thin strip of land separated from the rest of the city by Biscayne Bay. The first building constructed in what is now Miami Beach was the Biscayne House of Refuge, a halfway house for shipwreck survivors being assisted in adjusting to their new surroundings. The arrival of the railroad in 1896 led to the creation of Miami City, which in turn inspired some to see Miami Beach as a potential tourist destination. At first, Miami Beach was simply a destination for day trippers hoping to escape the city across Biscayne Bay by ferry. By 1912, efforts had begun to clear the land for construction; the first hotel, Brown's Hotel, was constructed in 1915. Dredging and land fill construction increased the size of the sand bar from 1,600 acres to 2,800 acres. The construction of a wooden bridge connecting Miami City and Miami Beach caused the small getaway town to become even more popular.

Miami Beach today is home to the New World Symphony Orchestra, and Lincoln Road, between 16th and 17th streets, is an iconic spot for rollerblading and cycling as well as shopping, outdoor dining, and a variety of art and photography galleries. Book an RV in Miami Dade County and you have a rolling window to the art and culture that exists today in this tourist hotspot destination. An RV rental in Miami Beach brings you close to other popular vacation cities. Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale are less than an hour away and you can even make it to Key West in about three hours.

Enjoy the sun and water by swimming, paddling or boating. This site is a great place for wildlife viewing too, there are many species of birds and turtles that live here.

Heading under an hour inland in your Miami Beach camper rental and you’ll be on the doorstep of the well-known Everglades National Park. This world heritage site preserves the habitat of many rare and endangered species like the manatee, American crocodile and Florida panther. Make sure to bring your camera in case you can get a glimpse of one of these special animals. This 2,400-acre park is large enough to accommodate a variety of outdoor activities like hiking and biking. You can even brave the waters in a canoe or kayak to see areas of the park unreachable by foot.

RV Parks

There aren't any RV resorts or campgrounds in Miami Beach, but there are several nearby. The first to consider is Larry & Penny Thompson Park & Campground in Miami. There’s full hookups and Wi-Fi here. The sites are asphalt with grass in between, and have trees that provide shade. The campground has restrooms, showers and laundry facilities in several places, and a swimming pool.

Topeekeegee Yugnee Park / Whispering Pines, in Hollywood, is under a 20 mile ride in your Miami Beach motorhome rental. There are restrooms and showers and laundry facilities. Wander away from your full hookup site with Wi-Fi to have a refreshing swim in the onsite pool. If you like the water, the park itself is home to the Castaway Island Waterpark. Spend a day here with the kids in the two interactive water playgrounds.

There are many things to do in town when you rent an RV in Miami Beach; deciding what to do could be difficult, but this is Miami Beach so chances are, you’ll want to start on the water. Consider a cruise around Biscayne Bay and view fascinating sights like Millionaire’s Row. You might even be lucky enough to spot a celebrity or two.

Part of the fun of a Miami Beach vacation is wandering around the town itself. Try the Art-Deco Historic District for some fantastic 20th century architecture, specifically Ocean Drive where the houses are painted in pastel colors.
