Belle Glade is a city located on the eastern edge of Florida in Palm Beach County. It’s located near many notable cities and attractions, like Lake Okeechobee and West Palm Beach. It’s also just a short drive away from Miami.

Originally designed to be used for agriculture, the city earned the nickname “Muck City” after the type of soil that helps large sugarcane crops to grow here. Belle Glade was also heavily damaged by a hurricane during the late 1920s. The city is known for its many football stars and for being depicted in Zora Neale Hurston’s novel Their Eyes Were Watching God.
