Nestled in the wooded valleys of the San Gabriel Mountains, just on the northern edge of the Angeles National Forest, sits the town of Wrightwood. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that people began to move to the area in large quantities and that's when Wrightwood began to develop into a residential, and ski resort, destination. With a few ski resorts still around and nearby, visitors to Wrightwood can indulge in the pastime that has attracted people to the town since the 1930s. When you rent an RV in Wrightwood, you will have easy access to explore one of Southern California’s most beautiful forests.

When you book an RV in San Bernardino County, you will be opening up a world of mountains, forests, and big cities. You can spend the morning and afternoon skiing down the slopes of this ski resort haven and then hit the streets of San Bernardino, or even Los Angeles, at night.

Discover Wrightwood

The Great Outdoors

If you want to explore more of the forest you’re in, you can head to the main ranger station of Angeles National Forest in San Fernando, CA. When you book an RV rental in Wrightwood, what better way to put it to use than driving through Angeles's many scenic byways. You can head to some of the park's various unique destinations, such as the bizarre sedimentary rock formation of Devil’s Punchbowl, or the Mount Wilson Observatory to get a glimpse of the night sky.

At Joshua Tree National Park, you can see the blending of the Mojave and Colorado deserts as they form one of the country’s most unique landscapes. With unique, cactus-like trees dotting the landscape and a variety of wildlife coming together to live in this merging of deserts, Joshua Tree is a unique place to do some wildlife viewing. Or, you can relax by the hidden gem that is Cottonwood Spring Oasis and enjoy a ranger-led hike or see if maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of a bighorn sheep getting a drink of water.

If you want to enjoy more of the desert life with the Wrightwood RV rental, then spend some time in the Mojave National Preserve. You will be surrounded by low-lying mountains, desert brush, and in the spring, some of the most stunning wildflowers you’d imagine. With 25 miles of trails, you can explore a variety of canyons, valleys, and even a Joshua tree forest.

RV Parks

When you book a motorhome rental in Wrightwood, be sure to book some places to stay the night. You want to make sure that you are plenty rested to continue your adventures in the Angeles Forest, or in other regions of Southern California.

On the south side of the Angeles National Forest is the Bonita Ranch RV Campground. The campground offers water and electric hookups, restroom and shower facilities, and laundry facilities. You can also hike to the nearby Bonita Falls, some lovely and picturesque waterfalls.

Just northeast of Wrightwood is the Desert Willow RV Resort. Here, guests will have access to full hookups, Wi-Fi, restroom and shower facilities, laundry facilities, and an on-site library.

If you’d rather stay in the wilds of the Angeles National Forest, there are several RV campgrounds strewn throughout the park, such as Los Alamos Campground and Cold Brook. While these campsites do have smaller RV length restrictions (the largest accommodation in Angeles being 26 feet), you will likely enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with staying in a national forest. You will have access to water as well as restroom and shower facilities.
