San Bruno is home to a YouTube corporate center and butts up against the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). It is halfway between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. It was incorporated in 1914 and was first explored in 1769 by a Spanish expedition. Significant growth really started in this area following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Today, when you search for an RV in San Bruno, you will find some great options along with close proximity to San Francisco, San Mateo, and even Redwood City.
To the north, you can visit Point Reyes National Seashore by heading across the Golden Gate Bridge. A bit farther to the north of that is Mendocino National Forest (north of Santa Rosa). If you’re willing to take a bit more of a drive in the best RV rental San Bruno has to offer, you can head toward Carson City, Nevada and visit Lake Tahoe or even Eldorado National Forest. To the north of both of these sits Plumas National Forest (near Chico) and Tahoe National Forest, both interesting destinations with a motorhome rental from San Bruno.
It’s wonderful to enjoy an RV rental in San Bruno and when you want to get outside and hike along some scenic trails, visit Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail in Half Moon Bay. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a Walmart to park your wheels, but if you do, be sure to check in with management first. Otherwise, you can choose one of the numerous RV resorts not too far outside San Bruno city limits.
One of those is the San Francisco RV Resort. Located in Pacifica, this is a decent RV resort close to the city. The sites are close together, and they offer full hookup service, including 50 amp electric. They do have a pool in season and pets are allowed. You can also get some ocean waterfront access.
Coyote Point Recreation Area is located in San Mateo and is quite small. They don’t have any hookups, but they do have pull-through sites and big rig access. They also have restrooms and showers. It’s a decent place for one or two nights.
Pillar Point Harbor RV Park is located in Half Moon Bay and offers full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. Pets are allowed and though they don’t have much in the way of amenities, they offer incredible views. There are also trails and a beach area nearby that you can access with your best RV rental from San Bruno.
Coyote Point Recreation Area is located in nearby San Mateo and is a great spot to enjoy nature. It is nestled along the San Francisco Bay Area and is a great place if you want to watch planes take off and land or simply enjoy the great aroma given off by eucalyptus groves. You can also do some wonderful hiking and biking here.
If you and your fellow travelers are looking for some time by the ocean, you can head over to Miramar Beach located in Half Moon Bay. It’s a wonderful and calm area where you can sit and enjoy the sound of the ocean, watch the moon rise or set over the water, or even enjoy a nice restaurant nearby. In nearby Millbrae is Bayfront Park. This is another place that offers wonderful views of the San Francisco Bay as well as airplanes taking off or landing at SFO. You will find plenty of walking and running paths as well as more than ample green areas for sitting down and enjoying a picnic, Frisbee, or some other outdoor activities.
