It has gone by many names in its brief history: Silsby, Silsby Switch, Richland; all before settling on the name Richvale for the tiny town in the northern region of California. Interestingly enough, Richvale was chosen by unscrupulous land developers to invoke lush, prosperous, fertile imagery in what was actually a dry, barren chunk of land. These shady developers even showed incorrect images of the land, taking pictures from San Joaquin Valley in the south of California. Fortunately, the area was irrigated with water from the Feather River, helping the tiny community survive despite struggling for years through the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.

Richvale is a fascinating little town that adequately captures the spirit and imagination of Northern California. Only a few hundred people call the town home, so peace and quiet are part of the appeal. The sleepy town is a 30-minute drive north of Yuba City, and about a 90-minute drive to the state capital, Sacramento. When you book an RV in Richvale, you will provide yourself with the tools necessary to feel truly liberated while you explore the magic of Northern California.

Discover Richvale

Experience the Great Outdoors

If your primary motivation for picking up a Richvale RV rental on your next trip has anything to do with the great outdoors, you are in for a treat. There is so much beauty packed into the Golden State that your head will be spinning by the time you fly home. The most noteworthy natural feature close to Richvale would have to be Lake Oroville, a massive, human-made lake with endless amounts of fun to find when you bring your Richvale camper rental to its scenic shores. There are several recreation areas on the edges of the lake, all of which boast amazing landscapes and fabulous views of the water. Loafer Creek, Craig, Potters Ravine, Kelley Ridge, Sycamore Creek, and Foreman Creek are just a few of the magnificent nature parks you can relax in during your trip, each of which has its own camping sites where you can stay when you rent an RV. You can boat around the lake, find secluded fishing spots, splash around in the refreshing water, or take a tent and camp at one of the lake's floating campsites, a feature unique to the lake.

Another park worth checking out is South Yuba River State Park, located to the east towards the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The park is widely known for rugged mountain bike trails, and the gorgeous scenery to appreciate during hikes through the woods. Hidden swimming holes, cascading waterfalls, and bizarre rock formations are all part of the fun when you take your Richvale motorhome rental for a day trip to South Yuba River State Park.

There is an assortment of incredible national forests within driving range of Richvale, so don’t hesitate to head off to places like Plumas National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Eldorado National Forest, or Tahoe National Forest. Plumas National Forest is the closest national forest to Richvale and is comprised of over one million acres of fertile, lush evergreen groves that blanket the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains. There are plenty of lakes perfect for swimming or fishing, and too many campgrounds to possibly name.

You can step back in time and see what life was like over a century ago while touring the mansion, and you can shop at the gift shop or catch an informative movie in the theater.

Chico seems to be filled with lots of other quirky museums, from the Museum of Northern California Art and its impressive artwork collection housed in decadent display halls, or the National Yo-Yo Museum, which was home to the National Yo-Yo Championship for over 20 years.
