With proximity to large cities like Sacramento and San Francisco, and outdoor destinations like El Dorado National Park, Rescue, California is the perfect location for a few days of adventure and sightseeing. Located in, what some would say, North California, Rescue is a small community with mostly rural areas that consist of farms, ranches, and vineyards. The downtown area — like something out of a postcard — is small but charming, and you can find a post office and a few other buildings that keep the town running.

Book an RV in Rescue to enjoy the mild winter and warm summers that this part of California has to offer. With a nearby lake and many public lands in the surrounding area, this is the place for outdoor adventure. Rent an RV to see the wonderful vistas of protected national forests or take a relaxing hike on one of the many trails that are available in Rescue and the nearby outdoor spaces. And for those looking to shop and see all the attractions that the big city has to offer, don’t forget that it’s only a short drive with your RV rental from Rescue, California.

Discover Rescue

The Great Outdoors

Getting an RV rental in Rescue is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and lovers of Mother Nature. Just a half hour’s drive from Rescue, you can be at Eldorado National Forest, which has many outdoor recreational activities for singles, couples, and whole families. For those who like to hike and sightsee, there are dozens of trails scattered throughout the park that range from short and light to long and steep. For anglers, there are plenty of fishing locations year-round where you can find such species as lake trout, rainbow trout, and even kokanee salmon, among other species.

A little farther away to the north, you can find Tahoe National Forest, which also has many recreational activities and trails. The famous Yosemite National Park, known for two of the climbing world’s biggest challenges, the Half-Dome and El Capitan, is only a three-hour drive away to the south. Yosemite National Park is also known for its amazing hikes and the geyser, Old Faithful, which is one of the biggest attractions and is known throughout the world.

With your camper rental in Rescue, you can choose to explore the nearby area too, like the Pine Hill State Ecological Reserve, which houses rare species of plants on over 4,000 acres of land. Folsom Lake, another nearby outdoor attraction, offers camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Rent an RV and explore the rural countryside of Rescue, or get lost among the wooded areas of Eldorado National Park, which has many gorgeous views, hikes, and waterfalls.

RV Parks

Hiking along the amazing trails provided by California’s federally protected land can get tiring and you’re gonna need somewhere to park that RV. The RV parks are lacking in quantity in Rescue proper, but there is one just a few miles south in the town of Placerville. The Placerville KOA has several RV parking spots with full hookups, Wi-Fi, and a large pavilion to relax and read a book in the shade. This spot also has some unique activities like a pool, recreation room, and they host movie nights on the weekends for all campers.

Nearer to Sacramento you can find more campgrounds and if you decide to travel to the public lands to the east, then there are some RV parks along that way. Several of the public lands, like Yosemite National Park, have campgrounds too, but they might need to be reserved ahead of time. Near Placerville, where the KOA is, you may be able to stay at the local Walmart parking lot — with the permission of the manager, of course — but it won’t have any of the amenities.

Exploring The City

You might need to look elsewhere if you’re looking to explore the city because of the quaintness of Rescue, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any activities in the area. One of the biggest attractions in the area is the casino near Placerville, which is open 24 hours and has retail and restaurant spaces. Enjoy a hand of poker or try your luck with the slot machines — there is childcare available for those that are traveling as a family.

Cameron Park Lake is very close to Rescue, and although it is much smaller than Folsom Lake, it’s still a great place to visit. Rent an RV in Rescue and take the family down to the lake where you can swim, kayak or just kick back underneath the shade of Northern California’s gentle sun and fantastic weather.
