To the east of Los Angeles in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, the small city of Ontario awaits you for your next great adventure. Ontario sits in San Bernardino County, but still seems like a suburb of Los Angeles due to its close proximity. Ontario is an ideal place to rent an RV because it sits neatly on the edges of both metro and wilderness areas, leaving you to choose where to spend your time.

When you book an RV in Ontario, the possibilities to customize your trip are endless. Hop on the Metrolink at East Station and visit Los Angeles, relax on the many beaches of southern California, or enjoy one of the many outdoor recreation areas around Ontario. Even the downtown area and town square are worth seeing, with many fine dining venues and retail stores, and a massive multi-use amphitheater featuring live music, film screenings, and other events every week.

For all you outdoors lovers, do not fret, Ontario is a wonderful place to rent an RV and get back to nature. Within the very limits of Ontario, Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park is a nice place to settle down and have a picnic, swim, or enjoy some fishing in one of the park’s two lakes. With the looming mountains in the background, you can have a picnic or a family reunion in one of the many pavilions located in the regional park. If you would like to further remove yourself from town, head to Chino Hills State Park and hike through the majestic wildflower-capped hills and lose yourself to the meditative tranquility. You can also spot the city from this location.

Angeles National Forest, to the north, is another wonderful place to take the Ontario RV rental for some rest and relaxation in one of many recreation areas. The massive forest features five wilderness areas, two mountain ranges, two ski areas in the wintertime, 66 campgrounds, and over 700,000 acres of land.

Of course, when visiting southern California, you should always at least consider heading to the many national parks in the Ontario motorhome rental. Joshua Tree National Park is the closest to the city of Ontario and can be easily reached in as little as 90 minutes’ drive. There is much to do at this magical little blending of desert ecosystems and otherworldly rock formations, such as hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, stargazing, fishing, and especially camping. Don’t forget to check out Death Valley National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and Sequoia National Park, none of which are too far away, and all very accessible in an Ontario camper rental.

City Attractions

Ontario is a charming little city that is plenty exciting in its own right. Formerly an agricultural powerhouse, Ontario evolved to become a vibrant escape from the more metropolitan areas of Los Angeles. With many incredible places to grab a bite to eat and awesome shopping possibilities, you won’t ever find yourself suffering from boredom on the Ontario RV rental vacation. The Granada Theatre is a famous local landmark always warranting a visit, with terrific architecture. The historic 954-seat theater has been around for ages and frequently hosts comedy shows, plays, musicals, and live music, making it the cultural hub of downtown Ontario.

The Ontario Museum of History and Art enables you to learn more about the local history and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the area through the viewing of art. The museum hosts many lectures, exhibitions, and educational workshops for all to enjoy.

There is always the option to hop on the Metrolink and head into downtown Los Angeles if you want to see more city sights. The Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, and many other notable attractions are never very far away when you visit Ontario.

Where to Park It

There is certainly no shortage of RV parks in the area, as far or as close to the city as you like. Los Angeles/Pomona/Fairplex KOA is your best option if you hope to stay in the city the entire time and sightsee. With all the necessities and a year-round pool and jacuzzi, this park is an obvious choice for vacationers.

East Shore RV Park, located on the banks of Puddingstone Lake, is another great choice. The lake is fully stocked for bass fishing and great for swimming and boating, while the park is located near regional parks, golf courses, world-class mountain biking trails, and miles of hiking trails.

Another option is to visit Chino Hills State Park or Angeles National Forest, both of which have countless spacious campsites for the Ontario camper rental. Between the assortment of places to stay, and several nearby Walmarts, all your needs are within arm’s reach, and the rest is up to you.
