The Great Outdoors

Oceanside is a recommended RV rental city because it provides a convenient base for visiting some of California’s best state parks and nature reserves. Just an hour from the city is the Palomar Mountain State Park. This 1,862-acre forest is home to a mixture of conifers, cedar, pine and fir trees, it boasts countless hiking trails, beautiful coastal views from mountain meadows, fishing ponds, and RV friendly campsites where you can settle in with your Oceanside camper rental.

Another option is to drive your RV from Oceanside to the Borrego Desert State Park, located a couple of hours from Oceanside in the Colorado desert. This park is a vast contrast from the lush forests of Palomar Mountain. Instead, there is a ‘Pumpkin Patch’ rock forest to see, dry canyons to hike, and coyotes to spot. Adventure lovers can also join a 4WD or ATV off-road tour to feel the adrenaline while discovering the highlights of this lunar-like landscape.

Back on the western coast, the Torrey Pines State Nature Park is also worth a visit. Located on the outskirts of San Diego, this coastal nature park is one of the wildest stretches of coastline remaining in the region. Inside the 1,500-acre boundary of the park, you can still find largely untouched beaches, magnificent cliffs of historic significance and enough variety of flora and fauna to keep you enchanted while hiking forest trails. Start your search for an RV in Oceanside and you’ll be one step closer to soaking in everything this incredible park has to offer.

RV Parks

Oceanside has two very good RV Parks located within the city. The Oceanside RV Park is within walking distance of Oceanside Harbour and Pier. This is a great place to stay if you want to feel the atmosphere of the city center while you rent an RV in Oceanside; the park offers Wi-Fi, 30 AMP hook-ups and fenced camping areas. Onsite there are also restrooms and laundry facilities, a spa, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Another great place to stay is the Paradise by the Sea Resort opposite the Buccaneer Beach Park. This resort is the perfect spot for family vacations, as well as the facilities mentioned above, the park has a Recreation room with PlayStation, Wii, and iPad Corner, ideal for keeping the kids entertained.

When you rent an RV in California you will usually find campsites within the state parks but size restrictions may be enforced. For example, only RV trailers or motorhomes of up to 35 feet are allowed inside the Borrego Desert State Park. Be sure to check ahead when you book an RV in Oceanside so you can enjoy the area without any worries about finding a good spot.

Exploring the City

On arrival to the city the best thing do is pay a visit to the California Welcome Center, where you’ll be able to get full details of events taking place in and around Oceanside or purchase tickets for attractions. The staff there can point you and your rental RV in the right direction for whatever you’re planning to check out.

If you’ve decided to visit sunny California then you’ll probably want to spend at least a day or two on the beach. The city has 3 miles of undisrupted beach and turquoise water, backed by a palm-lined boardwalk. The beach is separated into areas, each of which has its own appeal. Harbor Beach, for example, is ideal for socializing, surfing and playing volleyball, whereas Breakwater Way provides a family-friendly space, and if you’re looking for some peace and quiet then you can head to the city’s furthest beach, Buccaneer Beach. No matter your preference, you can park your rented travel trailer or motorhome in Oceanside and enjoy the best of every beach.

There's more to Oceanside than sandy beaches. This Californian vacation destination hosts a wealth of history which visitors can discover by visiting the Heritage Park Village Museum or the Oceanside Historical Museum. Meanwhile, culture lovers can pay a visit to the Museum of Making Music or the Mira Costa Art Gallery and College Theatre. Among the most popular attractions in and around Oceanside are the Public Library, the Harbor Village, the Pier, the Universal Studios of Hollywood, LEGOLAND California Resort, Disneyland California, The San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and San Diego Safari park.
