Monrovia is a city in Los Angeles County, California, which distinguishes itself from its neighbors through its small-town atmosphere and resident high-tech industry. Monrovia is recognized for its first-class education and health care. It also has cultural and recreational facilities that attract visitors from near and far. It began in 1886 when the first lots were sold. Prior to that, it had been a loose collection of randomly scattered houses and dirt roads. The city was named after William Monroe, one of the founders and the president of the Monrovia Land and Water Company. The company sold lots cheaply on the condition that owners complete building of houses on their lots within six months of purchase. This scared away land speculators and allowed Monrovia to avoid the collapse of the land boom that other cities experienced later on.

Monrovia is also one of the cities that is located along the famed Route 66, and a Monrovia travel trailer rental is one of the best ways to experience this historic journey for yourself (don't forget to buy some Route 66 souvenirs to remember the experience by). Search for an RV in Los Angeles County and you will have a fleet of reliable and comfortable vehicles to choose from. There are a number of equally interesting nearby cities that your Monrovia RV rental can carry you to. Glendora has been called “The Crescent City” and “The Pride of the Foothills”. Walnut has signs peppered throughout its community, pointing out and explaining its history; visitors here can take self-guided tours following these signs. Brea was known by early inhabitants as a place where tar seeped from the hills, which they made use of. Stanton is home to numerous public parks & invites visitors to join them in celebrating the outdoors. El Monte has a busy transit center and is historically known as “The End of the Santa Fe Trail”.

The Great Outdoors

Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area is a developed recreation spot open to the public. Guests can fish in the reservoir, relax and suntan on the beach, or make use of the water play area. Park staff operates the on-site nature center and can answer any questions you have; they also conduct educational, interpretive, and walking tours of the park. The center is open all year round. Photographers will be in heaven, just remember to include your Monrovia motorhome rental in your photos.

Eaton Canyon Natural Area is a nature preserve at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Visitors to the park can enjoy its hiking and equestrian trails, and picnic areas. There are interpretive guided walks or you can go on your own after stopping at the nature center to ask any questions you might have. There is a lot to see, in terms of plants and animals, and geology enthusiasts will appreciate the large variety of rocks and minerals. Bringing a camera or binoculars (or both) is strongly recommended.

The upper level of Fish Canyon Falls is a short hike with, as you guessed, a waterfall at the end of the hike; there is a pool underneath the waterfall where you can swim but the water is cold. It is a moderately difficult hike, so come prepared; the last part of the hike, to the waterfall, is steep and rocky.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks and campgrounds within a short distance of Monrovia. Your Monrovia camper rental is perfectly suited to this region and your best bet for a comfortable night's sleep.

Chino Hills State Park has quite a bit to offer guests, from hiking and horseback riding trails to picnic areas and an amphitheater with live events. An on-site nature center has informative displays and conducts tours of the area. Guests can also check out nearby museums. The park has restrooms and a meeting room. Tent camping is also available but most sites are for RVs.

Prado Regional Park is child and pet-friendly, and it has restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Individual sites have full hookups and picnic tables; some of them have big rig and pull-through access, and concrete patios. The park has stands of trees offering some shade and guests can listen to the birds singing in the trees in the morning. Some sites are for tent camping.

Exploring The City

There is a lot to see and do in Monrovia and a good place to start is with the Friday Night Family Street Fair. It has activities for the children and adults, and the farmers market is on hand selling food items fresh off of the farm. Much of the attractions on hand are outdoors, including scenic gardens and parks. There are several museums worth looking at and a few day spas when a good back rub is needed.

When it's time to start thinking about dinner, Monrovia has whatever you might be looking for. Prices range from cheap eats to fine dining and many of the restaurants are locally owned and operated, meaning the ingredients will be fresh as well as delicious. One Korean outlet offers a fusion of Korean and American cuisines, such as their bulgogi pizza with a whole roast chicken on the side. Portions are large, so be prepared to pack some of your meal home with you. There is also a Chinese hotpot restaurant.

If peace and quiet are what you're after, your Monrovia luxury RV rental gives you the option of a home-cooked meal, eaten under the stars. There are a variety of grocery stores nearby where you can stock up and there really is no one who understands your food preferences the way you do. Bon appetite!
