You will be able to find quality RV rentals in Hilmar and if you’re planning to take a bit of a drive, you will have plenty of large forests and parks to explore.
Hilmar started out as a colony of Swedish immigrants in the early 20th century. When you rent an RV in this area, you can head south to San Luis National Wildlife Refuge near Los Banos for an afternoon. If you prefer something bigger, you can take a bit of a drive to Yosemite National Park. To the south of that, beyond Fresno sits Kings Canyon National Park and, just beyond that, Death Valley National Park.
Within the Hilmar town limits, you will find George J. Hatfield State Park. While it sounds like an impressive park, it is considered relatively small. However, it is peaceful and when you have a luxury RV rental in Hilmar, this is a quiet place you can stop by and enjoy sitting by the Merced River as it gently winds its way through the valley.
Another place to visit if you’re looking for activities near the water is the Tuolumne River Trail. You can enjoy a barbecue down by the river and there are swimming areas to enjoy during the summer. It has a paved trail and is not very crowded, which can be a nice asset if you want a bit of a break while you rent a motorhome in Hilmar.
If you’re looking for an exciting adventure to experience when you rent a motorhome in Hilmar, consider river rafting or tubing. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the region, from Turlock to Modesto and points all around. With a family, this can be a wonderfully exciting opportunity if you have never taken part in this type of adventure before.
You won’t be lucky enough to find an RV park in town, but not to worry, there are options available to set that best RV rental near Hilmar. One of them is the Merced River RV Resort, just a few miles to the east. It is a decent sized RV park that offers full hookup service, including 50 amp electric. They also have some pull-through sites and big rig access. The grounds are considered level and some are gravel. Many of the sites offer a gorgeous view of the river, too. There are also plenty of trees for shade.
Santa Nella RV Park is not too far away and does offer full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. They also provide restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities and do offer propane as an option. The sites are bit smaller so if you have a larger motorhome rental from Hilmar, things could get a little tight.
Castle Air Museum RV Park is located in Atwater and offers full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. They don’t offer many amenities other than a pet area. It is considered a bit rustic and you may need to make reservations. The Castle Air Museum is also on site, offering an interesting insight into the history of military and other aircraft and how their technologies and functions have developed over the decades.
The Carnegie Arts Center is located in Turlock and is a historic building. The Carnegie Library was originally opened in 1916. It is now one of only a few professional art centers in the Central Valley region. The exhibits here are considered museum quality and they also provide educational classes and programs. The Turlock Historical Society Museum is located in the heart of downtown Turlock. It is considered quite nostalgic and a step back in time. It is a volunteer-run operation that has plenty of memorabilia of this town dating back more than a century. There is plenty of nostalgia oozing from its walls.
The McHenry Mansion is located north in Modesto and can be worth the stop. It has been restored and is in like-new condition.
