Corcoran is a small suburban town just a short drive from the larger central Californian cities of Hanford and Visalia. This charming bedroom community was first founded by Hobart Johnstone Whitley back in 1905. The lawyer from Southern California loved the area when he first visited and proceeded to buy land and build some of the town’s first structures. One of the town’s main roads is named for Whitley.

Corcoran is primarily known for its agricultural setting and industry, along with its state prisons that have housed some of the most notorious criminals in the country. Aside from that, Corcoran is situated in a favorable location in the heart of central California, never far from major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, or the variety of parks and forests scattered throughout the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. When you book an RV in Corcoran, you will afford yourself the flexibility and freedom to pursue the vacation of your dreams.

The Great Outdoors

California is unrivaled when it comes to sheer beauty or number of acres set aside for public recreation and outdoor fun. From the desert terrain of Joshua Tree National Park and the high mountains of the Sierra Nevadas to the fabled coastlines that can be seen while driving along California State Highway 1, you are never far from some breathtaking natural landmark or campground when you rent an RV in The Golden State.

There are a variety of places to visit with the Corcoran RV rental. If you want to see some mesmerizing desert landscapes, Red Rock Canyon State Park is found to the south on the other side of Bakersfield. This amazing natural wonder is named and known for its fabulous canyons that are every imaginable shade of red. When you first arrive in the park, you will know why it has been used as the filming location for lots of Hollywood productions. Nighttime is one of the best times to be in the park, with some of the darkest and most surreal views of the cosmos you can find anywhere.

Out by the coast, Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is one of the most visited places in all of California, with magical views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can hike through peaceful groves of redwood trees, known for being some of the tallest, largest, and oldest trees on the planet. Furthermore, there is a large hotel lodge for guests and a bevy of campsites in case you want to stay a while with the Corcoran motorhome rental. The campgrounds have camping stores, showers, and bathrooms.

There are too many national parks and forests in California to possibly name, but if you have the time and energy to take a small road trip, you won't need to go very far to enjoy Sequoia National Park. The park shares a name with the sequoia tree, which along with the mighty redwood tree, is one of California’s best-known endemic tree species, as well as one of the largest tree species in the world. There are extensive trail systems in the park, including long stretches of the famous Pacific Crest Trail, as well as some peaceful campgrounds.

When you drive toward the coast, you can visit one of the state’s smaller and lesser-known national parks, Pinnacles National Park. This park is also one of the newest national parks in the United States, having been formally established in 2013. Mountain trekkers and rock climbers love this rugged, rocky paradise due to the large number of geological formations, canyons, and climbable, natural monuments that can be found within it.
