The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in Cazadero, you will have access to several unique places. Initially, you may think that Cazadero is in a rather remote location. However, on further inspection, you will realize it is neatly nestled between several beautiful parks, all with different and unique features to explore.

If you head west from the city, towards the coast, you will hit the beautiful Sonoma Coast State Park in under 20 minutes. This park consists of a four-mile-long beach, which runs from Jenner down to Bodega Bay– a perfect stretch of coastline for a leisurely walk, taking in incredible views across the Pacific Ocean and searching for whales on their annual migration.

Heading inland from Cazadero, a quick half an hour drive along the 116 Highway will lead you to the Redwoods State Natural Reserve. This is an area that was saved from the logging industry resulting in some of the trees in the area being over 1000-years old. Take your time to stroll through these marvelous redwoods, making sure you stop at The Colonel, a 1400-year-old tree as well as The Parson Jones Tree, the tallest tree in the grove standing at 310 ft. tall!

Both of these locations take you on a quick detour down to Monte Rio. This is a small town built around a beach on the coast of the Russian River ideal for a quick lunch stop for lunch, swim or a day of fishing! Its slogan rings ‘Welcome to Monte Rio Vacation Wonderland’ – a convincing enough reason to rent a motorhome in Cazadero and explore!

RV Parks

When you rent a camper rental in Cazadero, you need a place to park it for the night. The Cazadero area caters to out-of-town visitors.

If you are heading down to Sonoma Coast State Park it is worth spending at least one night here to make the most out of all that is on offer. Within the park, there are four campgrounds offered, all of which offer campers basic amenities. There are no RV hook-ups available at any of the campgrounds and only two of the sites provide facilities. Start with Bodega Dunes Campground or Wright’s Beach Campground, both of which have onsite toilets and showers. Willow Creek Campground and Pomo Canyon Campground re slightly more rustic with little to no amenities to offer campers.

There are also numerous campgrounds dotted along the Russian River, just a 10-minute drive south of Cazadero. Most are well maintained with modern amenities and full hook-ups for your luxury RV rental from Cazadero! Casini Ranch comes highly recommended and can accommodate RV’s of all sizes.

Should you need a quick overnight stay, consider Walmart, truck stops, or larger grocery stores. There is a Walmart located within 30 miles of the city and camping may be allowed at this location. Just check with the manager for permission before you set up for the night. Being located near Bodega Bay and Occidental, RV rental near Cazadero is common, therefore, you should be able to find great amenities.

Exploring the City

For a small town, Cazadero has plenty of great attractions and its surrounding area. A must-see, unusual attraction within the small town is the 100-year-old general store, complete with original wood paneled flooring. Go to marvel at the antique building and leave with a bag full of tasty, locally produced goodies!

For those interested in the logging history of the region, there is Berry’s Saw Mill and Lumber Yard. Operating since 1941, Berry’s Saw Mill has lived through and outlived the changing agricultural needs of the land, now operating with efforts to preserve and manage the surrounding forests. Run by the same family since it opened, this is a worthwhile visit whilst you are in the area, even just to have a gander at the intricate wooden furniture they produce.

Cazadero’s prime location near to the Russian River Valley, temperate weather and fertile soil lends itself to the production of beautiful wines. As you might expect, this has led to the abundance of wineries cropping up in the area. Take the time to explore the variety of wineries dotted along the river near Santa Nella via one of the informative daily tours that run from Monte Rio!
