Discover Bridgeport

The Great Outdoors

Any RV renter will quickly fall in love with Bridgeport’s close proximity to many outdoor attractions from hot springs, to state and national parks. Bridgeport’s main attraction for many RVers is Yosemite National Park, where visitors can explore the diverse wildlife and landscapes of California’s Sierra Nevada region. The park features outdoor activities ranging from hikes across stunning landscapes to rock climbing to wintertime cross-country skiing, making it a haven for nature lovers of all kinds. Yosemite’s main entrance and campgrounds are roughly four hours away from Bridgeport while some of its satellite entrances and trails are closer to the town. This means Yosemite can either be the perfect day trip from Bridgeport or an overnight RV getaway.

If you’d like to stay a bit closer to town, you’ll still have plenty of outdoor adventures from which to choose. The Bridgeport Reservoir is right outside of town, and its diverse aquatic wildlife makes it a fisher’s dream. Bodie State Historic Park, where visitors can explore an abandoned mining town in a state of “arrested decay,” is just a thirty-minute drive from Bridgeport. You can also visit a handful of nearby hot springs, such as Travertine or Buckeye, or make the trek to Wild Willy’s Hot Springs for something a bit more natural. Bridgeport is also located right along the edge of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, which has plenty of trailheads for hikers of all skill levels. With your RV rental in Bridgeport, you’ll be able to explore all of these main attractions plus whatever else sparks your interest along the way!

RV Parks

As a hub for outdoor adventurers, there are plenty of nearby RV parks to set up camp with the Bridgeport camper rental. If you’re trying to keep close to the town or enjoy some fishing, then stay close to the Bridgeport Reservoir at the Paradise Shores RV Camp or the Marina and Campground. Both sites offer full hookups along with gorgeous views of the reservoir and the mountains. If you’re trying to get a little bit deeper into the woods without getting too far from town, then try the Willow Springs Motel and RV Park. Willow Springs comes with full RV hookups, and its owners even offer tours of the nearby Bodie Ghost Town. Both the reservoir parks and Willow Springs are close to the main town, which means you’ll be a short drive away from gas and other supplies.

Those looking to get closer to nature can find plenty of RV parks deep in Yosemite’s wilderness. The Twin Lakes are home to plenty of great RV spots, such as Annett’s Mono Village, the Twin Lakes Resort, and the Lower Twin Lakes Campground. Annett’s and the Twin Lakes Resort offer both full hookups and dry camping, but the Lower Twin Lakes only have dry spots. However, if you want to truly rough it in the wilderness, head to one of the many campgrounds in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest; we recommend Obsidian or Green Creek. These campgrounds give you easy access to fishing along nearby creeks and rivers as well as multiple trailheads throughout the National Forest. However, keep in mind that RV space is quite limited in these campgrounds, and you likely won’t have many hookups or much access to stores or other amenities. With your Bridgeport rental RV, however, you’ll have plenty of space to stock up before heading out into the wild.

Exploring the City

Though Bridgeport is just a tiny mountain town with a population of 575, it has plenty to offer the thousands of visitors it hosts each year. The town offers plenty of unique restaurants and shops for visitors to enjoy, and it has plenty of outfitters where you can grab more gear for your next adventure. However, if you’re looking for more options, you’ll want to head north to Carson City or Reno. History buffs will also enjoy exploring the town center, where they can see one of the state’s oldest courthouses and the Mono County Museum’s displays on the area’s Native American, ranching, and mining heritage. Bridgeport also hosts a handful of events and festivals throughout the year, such as its Old Fashioned Fourth of July and its Founder’s Day. Plus, since Bridgeport is such a small town, navigating through with your rental RV is relatively easy, but be careful in the winter. The winding mountain roads through the Sierra Nevada can become quite snowy and icy, so come prepared for snow and keep plans flexible if you need to hunker down. Whether you want to celebrate the Fourth of July or take a pit stop while trekking through the Sierra Nevadas, Bridgeport is the perfect place for RV adventurers of all kinds! Search for an RV rental in Bridgeport and experience what this beautiful region has to offer.
