The San Francisco Bay squeezes into the San Pablo Bay which condenses down into the Suisan Bay and, ultimately, the San Joaquin River. It’s just off the San Joaquin River where Bethel Island sits. It’s nestled along the Franks Tract State Recreation Area and only about 50 miles outside the San Francisco city limits. If you search for an RV in Bethel Island, you will be surrounded by water, beauty, and plenty of natural wonder, not to mention the exciting city life San Francisco and Sacramento (to the north) offers.

El Dorado National Forest is a bit more than 100 miles away, but it can be a wonderful adventure when you rent an RV with family in this area. If you want to take advantage of the Pacific Ocean, you can visit Point Reyes National Seashore, just to the north of San Francisco. You can get there by choosing to either cross the Bay on Interstate 580 through San Quentin or take Interstate 80 into San Francisco and cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Mendocino National Forest north of Santa Rosa is a bit longer drive, but worth the trip if you love the great outdoors.

The visitor center does offer some wonderful exhibits that can give you some history into this particular place.
