Artesia is a city in Los Angeles County, California, and is known as “Little India” for its large population of East Indians. The actual Little India community is located along several blocks of Pioneer Boulevard and can be explored on foot. Its origin dates back to 1875 when the first schoolhouse was built. It began as a farming and ranching community, growing potatoes and alfalfa, vineyards for producing wine, and apple and almond trees, just to name a few. It unofficially received its name from the many Artesian wells in the vicinity.

Book an RV in Los Angeles County and you are ready to hit the road in style. There are a few other nearby cities that are worth checking out. Santa Fe Springs gained popularity three times in its past, once for being the site of the largest ranch in California, a second time for the discovery of a sulfur spring (which was developed into a health resort) and a third time when oil was discovered in 1919. Buena Park was created by James Whitaker in 1885 but wasn't incorporated until 1953. Stanton is best known for its unique character, represented by off-beat stores and an indoor swap meet that flies six different flags, UN style, outside. Los Alamitos' official flower is the daisy, recommended by a young boy because it was his mother's favorite. Torrance is named after Jared Sidney Torrance, the real estate developer who created the city on land he had purchased in 1912. Your Artesia RV rental is your passport to these places and more.

Discover Artesia

The Great Outdoors

Chino Hills State Park was first conceived in 1977, when the California legislature, California State Parks department and a non-profit group, Hills for Everyone, began to work towards establishing the park. This was completed in 1984 when the State Park and Recreation Commission finally acknowledged the park and added it to the State Park System (a database of state parks in California). The park is a good resource for hiking, photography, and plant and animal observation, and offers guided nature walks and educational talks on a regular basis. Keep your Artesia RV trailer rental nearby and you can “pop home” for a quick snack or meal between activities.

Limestone Canyon Regional Park has been described as “the Grand Canyon of Orange County” due to its unique and iconic geological formations known as “the sinks”. It is a popular area with hikers, mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the dense oak woodlands, stream-side animal habitats, and year-round springs. Activities and educational sessions are hosted by volunteers, who help to manage the park.

Mile Square Regional Park is a developed city park offering public use baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, and several golf courses. Numerous lakes are contained within the park, stocked for fishing, and there are numerous areas and shelters where guests can enjoy a picnic lunch. Bring your Artesia motorhome rental and you can store your caught fish while tacking other activities. There is also an archery range and cross-country track for those who enjoy these pursuits.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks and campgrounds within close distance of Artesia. Most of these have restrooms and Wi-Fi, while the individual sites mostly have full hookups. Children and pets are welcome. Your Artesia travel trailer rental is the perfect complement to these accommodations.

Golden Shore RV Resort has a swimming pool, recreational trails for hiking and biking, and access to fishing. There is a community barbecue and fire pit that everyone can use. The individual sites have big rig access and Wi-Fi; some of the sites have asphalt pads. There are public showers, laundry facilities, and a camp store where you can stock up.

Orange County Fair Events Center has asphalt pads, pull-through access, and Wi-Fi. Guests staying here should check to see if there are events happening; if yes, you will need to be part of the event in order to stay.

Canyon RV Park has showers and laundry facilities, a swimming pool, playground, and paved recreational trail for hiking and biking. Individual sites have big rig access, gravel or asphalt pads, and a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has trees and open space, paved roads, and propane available. Some of the sites are for tent camping.

Exploring The City

There are numerous things to do in and near Artesia. There are art stores, theaters, and sculpture gardens. Shoppers will enjoy the specialty gift stores and swap meets, while those interested in the city itself will enjoy the libraries, museums, and the equestrian center. The equestrian center has both pony rides and a petting zoo, popular with both children and teens. The Japanese garden and antique market are also a good way to spend a few hours browsing and breathing in the culture.

As dusk descends upon the city, diners will not be disappointed in what Artesia has to offer. Diners can choose from Asian, Middle Eastern or Mexican fare. One Middle Eastern venue serves buttermilk and roti with the meals, and you should try the potato pakoras. A Korean restaurant offers barbecue or you can try the all-you-can-eat menu with more than a dozen different types of meat and seafood. There are a few restaurants that specialize in all-day breakfast, and one Filipino restaurant serves its food cafeteria-style; however, the food is hot and fresh, and the service good. Be sure to try the Adobe chicken with rice and Biko (sticky, sweet rice cake) for dessert.

You always have the option of getting takeout or picking up some groceries and making a good home-cooked meal in your Artesia luxury RV rental. Many of the Artesia restaurants have an outdoor balcony which should be fun, or you can bring out the lawn chairs and dine under the stars. The only limit is your imagination.
