Imboden, Arkansas is a small town in the northeastern corner of the state. It is a town in the foothills of the Ozarks and was named for Benjamin Imboden in the early 1800s. He was descended from Imbodens of Switzerland who were located in the Swiss mountains. While not as cold or as snow-capped as the Swiss mountains, the Ozarks likely reminded Imboden of his ancestral home. The weather in Imboden is fairly warm throughout the year. The summers are warm, and the winters are mild. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.

Imboden is about a 30-minute drive from Jonesboro, AR and 90 minutes from Memphis, TN. Lawrence County serves as a great starting point for a trip to the mountains, to Tennessee, or to other parts of the Upper South. Wings of Honor Museum in Walnut Ridge details the history of Walnut Ridge as it relates to World War II. During WWII, Walnut Ridge was the site of an Army Air Corps flying school. The museum preserves the history of the flight school and the airstrip. United States Air Force veterans and enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to this piece of early Air Force history.
