Out of all the fine suburbs surrounding Glendale and Phoenix, Litchfield Park might just be your best bet for renting an RV and taking a dream vacation in the sunny Southwest. Litchfield Park began as a small cotton growing plantation founded by Goodyear Tire Company executive, Paul Weeks Litchfield. Litchfield sought to create the Southwest Cotton Company to farm a rare form of cotton to be used in Goodyear Tires, and eventually, a community was built around the agricultural hub. In 1926, just ten years after the land was purchased for the cotton plantation, the US Postal Service agreed to name the town after Litchfield.

Litchfield Park has now evolved into a vibrant town with copious amounts of stores and local businesses. When you book an RV in Litchfield Park, you will have the opportunity to take part in local festivities, like the Flavors of the West Festival, the Annual Spring Art & Culinary Festival, the Annual Wigwam Festival of Fine Art, and many other cultural events. Interstate 10 is close to town so bringing your Litchfield Park rental RV to Los Angeles is entirely possible when you feel the need to venture off and do your own thing.

Discover Litchfield Park

Experience the Sites and Scenery

Astonishingly enough, Litchfield Park found a way to cram 11 parks into just over three miles of territory. Staggs Park, Turtle Park, and Tierra Verde Lake Park are a few lovely communal spaces to enjoy, with playgrounds, fishing ponds, hiking trails, and tranquil picnic areas.

The White Tank Mountain Regional Park is an obvious place to visit with the Litchfield Park RV rental. White Tank Mountain Regional Park is the largest of its kind in the entire country with over 26 miles of incredible winding trails. Views of the mountains and barren desert ecosystems are a pleasure to gaze upon when visiting this southwestern gem of a park.

Exploring Estrella Mountain Regional Park, to the south on the other side of the Gila River, is another excellent adventure waiting to happen. When you bring your Litchfield Park camper rental to Estrella Mountain, you can enjoy some fishing in the Gila River, mountain biking, hiking, and a whole host of other recreational activities.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park is north of the Phoenix metro area and revolves around the graceful waters of Lake Pleasant. While visiting this fantastic lake, you will find people jet skiing, wave running, swimming, fishing, or just taking a spin in their personal watercraft.

Tonto National Forest, Coconino National Forest, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, and Prescott National Forest are all quite close to the Phoenix metro area and warrant a visit in your Litchfield Park motorhome rental. Tonto National Forest covers nearly three million acres of Arizona, making it the fifth largest forest in the country. You can explore the eight wilderness areas within the boundaries of the lush forest and take notice of the majestic mountains and serene desert landscapes. The Grand Canyon is, of course, the main attraction of Arizona, attracting millions of people from around the world each year to gaze upon the jaw-dropping beauty of the natural landmark. Arizona is lucky to have some of the most gorgeous landscapes in the country, so choosing your own adventure when you rent an RV is one of the best ways to see the state.

City Attractions

Although small in size, the city of Litchfield Park is loaded with activities and attractions to keep you occupied. Golfing is a popular pastime in the sunny Southwest, and you can hardly walk a mile without seeing a few courses.

The Litchfield Train Station, Saint Thomas Mission Church, Church at Litchfield Park, and the Wigwam Organizational House are a few of the historic landmarks in town that touch on the history of the humble beginnings of Litchfield Park as a tiny desert plantation. The old adobe and stucco architecture gives Litchfield Park its own unique flavor that is hard to find in other parts of the country. The Litchfield Park Historical Society and Museum is housed within Aunt Mary’s House, which is itself a cherished historical site built in the 1940s. The house belonged to Mary Brinton-Tubbs, who volunteered at the local air force base during second World War, doing everything she could to help her country.

The Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, and Safari Park house the largest collection of animals in all of Arizona, making it the ideal place to tour with the family.

Where to Park It

There are quite a few Walmart Supercenters in the area, as well as other camping supply stores, grocery markets, fuel stations, and places to stay.

Pioneer RV Resort in Phoenix is within close proximity to many of the city’s best attractions and shopping areas. A heated indoor pool and a clubhouse are nice additions to any campground experience. Destiny Phoenix RV Resort in Goodyear is yet another place you can stay with your luxury motorhome rental near Litchfield Park. The park features beautiful adobe buildings, a heated pool, and a relaxing spa.

At Leaf Verde RV Park, the desert scenery and towering saguaro cactuses greet you each morning when you wake up. Estrella Mountain and White Tank Mountain Regional Parks both have wide open swaths of land dedicated to recreational vehicle camping so they are viable options, too.
