Mountain biking, horseback riding, and bird watching are also popular there.

For a true adrenaline rush, consider doing a tandem dive with Skydive Alabama. They take off every weekend from the Cullman airport and you could be with them if you’ve got the stomach for thirty seconds of free fall. Most visitors will be more content playing 18 holes rather than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Fortunately, the area has three courses: Cross Creek, Chesley Oaks, and TP Country Club.

RV Parks near Cullman

The city’s location between two major population centers of Alabama makes it ideal for camping with a motorhome rental in Cullman, and there are several parks to serve your needs. Cullman Campground is one of the closest, being just ten minutes to the northwest off Highway 157. Around half of their sites have full hookups and there are laundry facilities to wash your clothes in.

Another option is Arrowhead RV Park on Smith Lake, about half an hour to the east of town. They offer full hookups, laundry, a salt-water pool, and a boat ramp into the lake. And if you don’t want to leave the park for dinner, you’ll find they have a restaurant too. It makws for a convenient place to park your Cullman RV rental by owner.

If you don’t mind a site with fewer amenities, Smith Lake Park near Dodge City is a good choice as they have full hookups and a boat launch, but are less expensive than some of the other RV parks in the area. There’s also two Walmart Supercenters, on the northern and southern ends of town, which could be used for camping in a pinch - just be sure to check with the manager first. Exploring the Town of Cullman

Ave Maria Grotto is one of the more popular attractions in town. And it’s quite unique; a four-acre park featuring 125 miniature sculptures of famous religious sites around the world. Even if you’re not particularly religious and don’t recognize some of the buildings being depicted, you have to marvel at the detail and effort that’s gone into the miniatures. There’s also the more life-sized St. Bernard Abbey where you can learn about the Benedictine monk community that formed in Cullman.

To get a sense of the town’s history, check out the Cullman County Museum, housed in a replica of the home of the town’s founder, John Cullman. It covers everything from the region’s Native American history prior to the town’s founding up through some of its more modern developments.

As Cullman sits in a relatively rural section of northern Alabama, one of the most important things you can do for yourself is to try some of the fruits of the land. There are several excellent places to shop for fresh produce and locally made baked goods. For a great pint of beer, look no further than the local microbrewery. They don’t have a huge selection and don’t serve food (food trucks park outside though), but what they do have is some seriously tasty beers; try one of their seasonal ales.
